What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a pleasant relaxed state in which the conscious becomes distracted, and the unconscious (also known as the subconscious) becomes open and receptive to suggestions and changes.

The actual experience of hypnosis is difficult to describe, as there are so many different levels. Some people cannot tell the difference between being hypnotised and the normal waking state, as it is neither being asleep nor awake, and can feel as light as daydreaming.

All hypnotic states are characterised by a tremendous state of relaxation, into which individuals allow themselves to enter so that therapy, in the form of desired and beneficial suggestions, may be given directly to the unconscious mind without the interference of the conscious mind.
